AAA batteries are commonly used in small electronic devices such as remote controls, MP3 players and digital cameras. Devices that operate at the same voltage but require higher current intensities use larger AA batteries.

AA batteries have three times the capacity of AAA batteries. However, with increased efficiency and the miniaturisation of modern electronics, many products previously designed to use AA batteries are being replaced by models that accept AAA batteries.
