Kegel Balls: These are two vaginal spheres especially recommended for postpartum uterine involution, as well as for treating and preventing incontinence, helping to strengthen the pelvic floor and achieve more satisfying sexual relations. The Kegel Balls have an ovoid shape that facilitates both insertion and removal.

CAUSES OF PELVIC FLOOR WEAKNESS

The pelvic floor can deteriorate due to pregnancy, childbirth, menopause, high-impact sports, chronic cough, among others.

• Pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum: These are the main risk factors predisposing a woman to pelvic floor dysfunctions. During pregnancy, the weight of the uterus overloads the tissues. During childbirth, the passage of the baby through the vagina can worsen the problem, especially if the baby has significant weight or a notable cranial circumference, and if an episiotomy occurs. In the case of cesarean deliveries, pelvic floor weakening can also occur.

In the postpartum period, lack of proper exercise of weakened muscles and early practice of abdominal exercises or aggressive sports can accentuate pelvic floor muscle weakness.

• Menopause: The passage of time and hormonal changes during menopause can result in loss of pelvic floor flexibility, favouring tissue weakening.
• High-impact sports: Sports such as spinning, aerobics and running increase intra-abdominal pressure, which can cause, even in young women, loss of pelvic floor tonicity.
• Genetic inheritance: Two out of ten women have an innate weakness in their pelvic floor muscles.
• Daily habits: Holding urine for long periods or wearing very tight clothing.
• Other causes: Obesity, constipation, chronic cough and stress.

HYGIENE AND MAINTENANCE

The therapeutic Kegel Balls should be kept in perfect condition to avoid contamination. To do so, wash them before and after use with warm water and a neutral soap, and dry them with a clean cotton towel.

To sterilise them, you can use the accessory cleaner from Femintimate. Do not use alcohol, as it can damage the soft silicone they are made of.
