AAA batteries are commonly used in small electronic devices such as TV remote controls, MP3 players, or toys. Devices operating at the same voltage but requiring higher current intensities use larger AA batteries. AA batteries have three times the capacity of AAA batteries. However, with increased efficiency and miniaturisation of modern electronics, many products originally designed for AA batteries are now replaced by models accepting AAA batteries. An AAA battery measures 44.5 mm in length and 10.5 mm in diameter. AAA alkaline batteries weigh about 11.5 grams each, lithium AAA batteries approximately 7.6 grams, and rechargeable (Ni-MH) batteries usually weigh between 14 and 15 grams. The nominal voltage of AAA alkaline and lithium batteries is 1.5 V, while Ni-MH or NiCd rechargeable batteries have a voltage of 1.2 V. The capacity of AAA alkaline batteries typically ranges from 900 to 1155 mAh (3240 to 4158 coulombs).
